Dr John W. Sutherlin PhD – Director & President
John is the Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research (OSPR) of Louisiana at the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) and manages an annual budget of more than $25 million. He is full professor at ULM in political science/public policy. He obtained his international relations and environmental policy PhD from the University of New Orleans and a Masters of Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Environmental Law School.
He is a patented inventor, author, and producer of 28 environmental films that have been distributed in more than 180 countries. He taught at Tulane University and was part of an EPA funded research organization at the University of New Orleans. He frequently does environmental consulting work in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and South America.
He was named Professor of the Year twice at ULM and was nominated to be Secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality for the State of Louisiana.
He completed a leadership training certification from the Kennedy School at Harvard and trains leaders across the South through a federally funded program. He was born in Arkansas and has lived in Louisiana for the past three decades.
